Willaura community encouraged to have their say on future recreation reserve upgrades

Willaura and district residents are being encouraged to attend a community consultation session to have their say on future upgrades to facilities at the town’s recreation reserve.
Three concept plans will be presented to the community at the session on Friday 11 October. The plans are being prepared in anticipation of funding being available at a later date to complete the work.
Ararat Rural City Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison said the project includes upgrades to male and female change facilities, the umpire and camping change facilities, and improvements to the social room and kitchen.
Dr Harrison said the project would also include accessibility upgrades to allow for all abilities to use the sports facilities.
“The buildings at the recreation reserve no longer comply with current accessibility and amenity standards, with upgrade work needed to improve them for all users,” he said.
“The Council is currently investigating funding options – including government grants – and we are preparing plans and obtaining feedback from the community so we are ready to hit the ground running when funds become available.
“The upgrade work will provide much more modern facilities for players, umpires, officials and volunteers participating in sport and events at the reserve.”
The community is invited to attend the drop-in consultation session any time between 3pm and 7pm on Friday 11 October, at the Willaura Recreation Reserve.
The concept plans and a feedback form will also be available on the Council’s website www.ararat.vic.gov.au/majorprojects from Friday 11 October.
