Willaura multi-purpose facility - Pick My Project

The Willaura all seasons multi-purpose facility is a project that has been fully funded by the State Government's Pick My Project program, and is being project managed by Ararat Rural City Council.

Under the project, the existing tennis courts at the Willaura Recreation Reserve will be converted to a multi-purpose facility that accommodates both tennis and netball. As part of the work, three tennis courts and two netball courts will be marked on a brand-new asphalt surface. There will also be new shelters for players and scorers installed, new perimeter fencing built and new lighting installed. The new facility will provide a more user-friendly facility for the whole community.

The project has been funded by a $117,272 State Government Pick My Project grant the Willaura community was successful in obtaining, and Ararat Rural City Council is working with the community to get the job done.

The new multi-purpose courts will provide a safer playing environment for players, umpires, officials and volunteers, and will provide a much-needed upgrade to the current courts. The new lighting will encourage night training and competition in both sports, and will give locals more opportunities to use the facility. The shelters will improve player and spectator comfort during bad weather. Work on the new-look facility has already started, with the community undertaking in-kind work to remove the perimeter fencing. The rest of the work will be completed over the coming months, weather and contractor availability permitting.
