Ararat Rural City Australia Day Awards 2021 - nominations now open
Each year Ararat Rural City Council presents awards to local citizens and community groups that have made an outstanding contribution to the community. The awards not only recognise the contribution within the community, but the ongoing commitment undertaken by all individuals for the benefit of the community. It is an opportunity to honour individuals or groups who continued to make a difference to the Ararat Rural City community in the past year.
The 2021 Australia Day Awards will be presented at the annual Australia Day celebration on 26th January 2021 at Alexandra Oval Community Centre, Waratah Avenue, Ararat (pending COVID-19 restrictions). More details on this event will be released closer to the date.
The four awards presented will be Young Citizen of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Resilience Award and Local Business of the Year
Nomination forms must be returned by 5pm Friday 15 January 2021.
- The nominee must be an Australian Citizen
- Entry for these awards is open to any person who is a resident in the Ararat Rural City Council at the time of the nomination process
- All nominations must be made on the official form (one nomination per form)
- Nominations may be made by an individual or organisation of the community
- You can make more than one nomination from the same organisation, however, must be in a different category
- All nomination information and materials submitted during the nomination process, will remain property of the Ararat Rural City Council
Individual award criteria:
Award 1 Young Citizen of the Year 2021
A person who is 25 years of age or under, must be an Australian Citizen who either resides or works in the Ararat Rural City, who has either made an outstanding contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the community of the Ararat Rural City
Award 2 Citizen of the Year 2021
A person who is over the age of 25, must be an Australian Citizen who either resides or works in the Ararat Rural City, who has either made an outstanding contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the community of the Ararat Rural City
Award 3 Resilience Award
An individual/group or organisation that has shown resilience during testing circumstances. Demonstrating optimism and perseverance when faced with challenges, whilst continuing to contribute positively to Ararat Rural City community
Award 4 Local Business of the Year 2021
An organisation that has made or are making a significant or ongoing contribution within the community, particularly to the local economy. This award recognises the hard work and dedication that goes into operating a small business, particularly during difficult times such as COVID-19
