Back Bolac Road will benefit from funding under the first round of the State Government’s Fixing Country Roads Program.
Ararat Rural City Council was successful in securing $633,333 in funding for the reconstruction and widening of the busy rural road, which was announced by Regional Roads Victoria on Tuesday.
Ararat Rural City Council CEO Tim Harrison said he was thrilled with the announcement.
“It is always very pleasing to receive funding to help maintain our vast road network and this contribution from the Andrew’s Government is very significant,” he said.
“There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to secure funding of this kind, so we are very excited.
“With limited sources of revenue and thousands of kilometres of roads to maintain, rural councils are always grateful for assistance in keeping our extensive road and bridge infrastructure up to standard.”
All 48 regional Victorian councils were successful in securing a portion of the more than $30 million first round grants for important road rehabilitation and resealing works, bridge strengthening projects or road safety improvements.
Councils to receive funding in round one must deliver these works by June 2019.
