Ararat Rural City Council is encouraging locals to do 30 minutes of physical activity per day this month while taking part in the Premier’s Active April campaign.
As part of Active April, there are a range of low-cost and no-cost activities being held in Ararat Rural City, including Tai Chi, mat pilates, meditation, laps of the lake, and circuit classes.
Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison said Active April is a State Government program that aims to encourage more physical activity among all Victorians.
“It’s fun and it’s part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to getting more people active and healthy,” Dr Harrison said.
“Start small and remember that every little bit counts. It’s an easy way to kick start a healthier you.”
A calendar of activities is available on the Ararat Rural City Council website – look in the news section. Activities are either free or $5 per session, subsidised for April only.
