Jam packed School Holiday Program at Ararat Regional Library
Posted Tuesday 4 April, 03:07pm
Ararat Regional Library will offer free activities and workshops for children over the Autumn School Holiday break.
Children can enjoy ‘Paper Fold’ craft on Wednesday, April 5 from 11am–12.30pm. Simply bring an old book (paperback preferred) of about 100-120 pages along and explore paper folding and make a cute hedgehog or a birdcage. All other materials will be supplied. This is suitable for nine years, up to any age.
The Ballarat Library Service’s exciting Techno Fun Roadshow will be in town on Friday, April 7 and is suitable for kids aged eight to 15. Some of the activities include exploring virtual realities using Google cardboard and playing with technology. Children are encouraged to bring their own digital devices on the day. A limited number will be available at the library to use.
On Wednesday, April 12 from 10.30am-12.30pm and not to be missed is an art session with well-known local artist Helen Leach. The theme is ‘Ararat Rocks in Autumn’ where a great mix of panels for a mural of autumn coloured tones using pastels will be created and displayed in the library. If you can please bring photo’s if you have them of your chosen autumn activity – sport, music, art, cooking, grape harvesting, fishing, gold detecting, reading or any hobby! If you only have a digital picture you can print it off at the library. All other materials will be supplied.
Regular children’s programs will continue throughout the school holidays. Boogie Roo’s will have a changed time of 2.30pm for the school holiday period. Baby Rhyme Time introduces books and stories to babies aged up to 24 months through the use of rhyme, singing, finger play and sign language. Baby Rhyme sessions are every Tuesday at 10am and 11am (come to either session).
Each Thursday from 11am to 12pm Pre-school Storytime introduces children to the wonderful world of books through song, rhyme and a small craft activity. Older siblings are welcome and often enjoy these sessions, too.
