Work on the Ararat Arts Precinct redevelopment is taking shape.

Builders from Ballarat-based firm, Nicholson Construction, have been hard at work since construction was officially opened by as Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford in April.

Work that has been completed or is currently underway at the Town Hall site includes:

  • External demolition complete with the old toilet block and soils lab levelled
  • Demolition well underway in the foyer and toilet areas to expose the old sash windows and reveal the view toward Mt Langi on the east of the build
  • Theatre contractors have begun the job of stripping out the old equipment in prep for installation of new
  • Civil works, cut, fill and compact completed for the Gallery foundations
  • Under-slab plumbing is partially installed in prep for the pouring of the floor slab to the new Gallery
  • Stripping out of the kitchen is complete

In the coming months the slab for the new Gallery floor will be boxed up and poured, while further demolition in the foyer area will take place.

This will then be followed with a fitout of the theatre auditorium.

The $7.735 million redevelopment project is a joint partnership between Federal and State Government and the Ararat Rural City.
