Group Fitness Instructor – Casual

Ararat Fitness Centre is inviting applications for motivated and energetic Group Fitness Instructors to join our team. Help our community reach their health and wellness goals by leading fun and inclusive group classes in a positive fitness environment.

About the Role
As a Group Fitness Instructor, the role involves planning and delivering high-quality group fitness sessions suitable for a range of ages and fitness levels. Successful candidates will create safe, motivating, and engaging classes—helping participants build confidence, reach their fitness goals, and enjoy a welcoming space for physical activity. Instructors work under the guidance of the Leisure Centre Lead, playing a key part in the success of our fitness program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver group fitness classes to suit varied abilities and needs
  • Demonstrate correct technique, provide feedback, and support safe exercise practices
  • Encourage class participation and monitor individual performance
  • Maintain a clean and organised space, including safe equipment set-up and storage
  • Contribute to program development including new classes and special events
  • Keep accurate records and attendance, and gather participant feedback
  • Collaborate with staff for excellent customer service and facility standards
  • Supervise the gym and respond to patron enquiries for a safe facility experience
  • Ensure compliance with Council policies, risk management, and OHS standards

About You

  • Certificate III in Fitness or equivalent
  • Accredited Group Fitness Instructor with current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Experience in leading group fitness classes (preferred)
  • Holds a valid Working with Children Check
  • Knowledge of exercise physiology, class design, and injury prevention
  • Patient, empathetic communicator with a commitment to positive relationships and participant support
  • Available for evening or weekend shifts as required
