Applications now open for Ararat Rural City Council Community Support Grants Program
Applications are now open for Ararat Rural City Council’s 2026 Community Support Grants Program, with local community groups and not‑for‑profit organisations encouraged to apply before the round closes on 30 June 2026.
Community groups and not-for-profit organisations across Ararat Rural City are invited to apply for funding, with Council’s latest round of Community Grants now open until 30 June 2026.
The Community Grants program supports projects, equipment purchases, and facility improvements that strengthen participation and help local groups continue their work across the municipality. Ararat Rural City Council is encouraging groups to review the guidelines, talk through their ideas, and submit applications early rather than waiting until the final days of the round.
In the most recent round, Council awarded more than $40,000 in funding across 15 projects, backing a wide range of local initiatives. Successful applicants included Ararat and District Eight Ball Association, which received support toward a second-hand bus so more players can travel to tournaments, and Ararat Neighbourhood House, which secured funding for new sewing machines and an overlocker to expand its sewing group.
Grants also helped Wickliffe Lake Bolac Football Netball Club upgrade the Lake Bolac Social Rooms with a new fridge and air conditioner, and supported projects such as a new computer for the Ararat District Historical Society and a birdhide development at Green Hill Lake.
Ararat Rural City Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison said the program continues to deliver practical backing for the volunteers and community leaders who keep local activities going. “These grants are about supporting local people who know what their communities need and are prepared to put in the work to make things happen,” Dr Harrison said. “The previous round showed the breadth of ideas coming forward, from transport and technology to creative programs, sporting facilities and community meeting places, and we’re looking forward to seeing what ideas emerge this time.”
Dr Harrison encouraged community groups with an idea or project in mind to take the time to prepare a strong application. “We know many local groups are run by volunteers, and this funding can make a real difference in helping them improve what they offer, update equipment or make shared spaces more comfortable and functional,” he said. “If you have a project that will benefit the community, now is the time to check the guidelines, talk it over with your committee, and get your application in before 30 June.”
Application information, eligibility guidelines and funding details are available on Council’s website, with staff available to answer questions from prospective applicants during the submission period.
