Ararat Jobs and Technology Precinct Grows Coworking and Meeting Spaces for Community

Ararat Rural City Council is pleased to announce the expanded offerings of the coworking hub at the Ararat Jobs and Technology Precinct (AJTP), an innovative partnership with Federation University Australia that is building opportunities for local jobs and industry collaboration.

The AJTP coworking space has steadily grown its user base over the past few years, providing accessible and flexible work options for residents and visitors alike.

Community members can now book a desk at no cost between 9 am and 5 pm each weekday, with six workstations and two soundproof booths available for calls and meetings. In addition, a variety of meeting spaces are offered: small rooms can be used free of charge, while a larger meeting space (seating up to thirty) can be hired for group workshops or gatherings as demand grows.

Most users have come to the coworking space through referrals from the Ararat Library, friends, and colleagues. The Council is particularly proud to see business professionals, especially parents living outside Ararat, take advantage of these facilities while their children are at school or kinder.

The precinct has also become a valuable study option for students preparing for exams, as well as a change of scenery for people working from home. Interest in the meeting rooms continues to rise, driven by local businesses and not-for-profit groups selecting the hub as a central venue for collaboration.

Mayor Cr Jo Armstrong said the precinct is helping to foster new connections and lay the groundwork for a thriving local economy: “The Ararat Jobs and Technology Precinct is about more than just workspaces. It’s about supporting local talent, encouraging collaboration, and supporting our region to adapt and grow. Welcoming new users to these facilities shows what can happen when the Council and our partners get behind local ideas and back them with real action. We look forward to seeing even more members of the community take up the opportunities on offer.”

The Ararat Jobs and Technology Precinct supports research and innovation across agriculture, advanced manufacturing, health, recycling, and the circular economy. Council remains committed to working alongside community partners to deliver a more sustainable and connected future for Ararat.
