Australian Red Cross Blood Bank Bus Rolls into Ararat This Month

The Australian Red Cross’ Blood Bank Bus is coming to Ararat this month, giving residents with the opportunity to donate much-needed blood.

The Australian Red Cross reports that while 1 in 3 people will need blood in their lifetime, only 1 in 30 will donate. This means a new blood donor is needed every five minutes to prevent supply shortages.

Victoria's blood supply for A+ and A- types is currently low. While the other six main blood types are at positive levels, plasma donations are always needed. If you don’t know your blood type, giving blood is the easiest way to find out.

The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood Blood Bank Bus will be stationed at the Ararat RSL/Ararat Library Car Park located on 74-76 High Street from Tuesday 8 - Saturday 12 July 2025 during the below hours:

•    Tuesday 8 July: 12 pm – 5:30 pm
•    Wednesday 9 July: 12 pm – 7 pm
•    Thursday 10 July: 12 pm – 7 pm
•    Friday 11 July: 10:30 am – 5:30 pm
•    Saturday 12 July: 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Spaces are limited and bookings are essential. Book your donation online now at: www.lifeblood.com.au/donor-centre/vic/ararat-mobile-donor-centre, via the Donate Blood app, or phone 13 14 95.

"Donating blood is incredibly important – every donation directly saves lives and supports the health of our community,” says Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Jo Armstrong.

“Accessibility can be a challenge in rural areas, so we're really pleased that the blood bus can provide this service to our residents. I urge everyone who can donate to take advantage of this opportunity. It's a simple act with an immeasurable impact."
