Big Boost for Victoria’s Smallest Towns as Tiny Towns Fund Opens
Applications are now open for Round 3 of the Victorian Government’s Tiny Towns Fund, offering grants of up to $50,000 to support creative projects and improvements in Victoria’s smallest towns.
The Tiny Towns Fund aims to attract more visitors and celebrate the unique character of local communities, building on almost 350 projects already delivered across more than 300 small towns since the program began.
Recent success stories include Hepburn Shire Council’s new accessible mounting ramp at Glenlyon Reserve, helping to boost participation in local horse-riding activities, as well as upgrades to over 50 community halls and enhancements for parks and playgrounds that draw families and visitors alike.
Projects supported by the Tiny Towns Fund are carried out with the help of local contractors and suppliers, supporting jobs, small businesses, and the regional economy. Applicants may seek a minimum of $5,000 and up to a maximum of $50,000.
The Tiny Towns Fund is designed to foster economic development by helping local businesses in small towns to prosper, while also addressing gaps in important community infrastructure and facilities that benefit some of Victoria’s smallest communities. By investing in these areas, the fund supports projects that build community pride and enhance opportunities for living, working, socialising, and recreation within small towns.
Applications for Round 3 close on Wednesday, 4 February 2026. Residents, groups, and community leaders in the Ararat Rural City municipality are encouraged to consider applying.
Mayor Bob Sanders welcomed the announcement, saying, “Our small towns have so much heart and resourcefulness. Funding like this helps our communities bring local ideas to life, create welcoming spaces, and ensure our towns continue to thrive. I encourage groups across our municipality to get their applications in and showcase just what makes our region special.”
