
Ararat Rural City Council is seeking an enthusiastic and organised individual to join the Arts & Culture team as our Administration & Marketing Officer at Ararat Town Hall. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with a focus on providing outstanding customer service, supporting event operations, and delivering engaging promotional content for our vibrant community venue.
About the Role
Reporting to the Performing Arts Coordinator, the Administration & Marketing Officer is responsible for ensuring smooth box office, front of house, and bar operations at Council-run events. The role also provides vital marketing and administrative support, working closely with Council’s Media Team and external stakeholders to maintain consistent, high-quality branding and communications across all platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage ticket sales, POS transactions, and banking for events
- Coordinate rosters and oversee Front of House staff and Venue Caretakers
- Administer bookings, quotes, confirmations, and invoicing for the venue
- Prepare and schedule promotional content, including posters, flyers, social media posts, and e-newsletters
- Update event listings on the website and liaise with stakeholders to ensure marketing accuracy
- Ensure compliance with Council policies, OHS and Risk Management frameworks, and venue requirements
- Oversee safe and efficient day-to-day venue operations
About You
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with a commitment to high-quality customer service
- Strong written and oral communication abilities, able to collaborate with staff, patrons, and promoters
- Experience in event or arts administration, marketing, or customer service environments preferred
- Working knowledge of ticketing systems (e.g., Trybooking) and digital publishing tools (e.g., Canva, Mailchimp) desirable
- Sound proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with POS systems an advantage
- Willingness to obtain a Level 2 First Aid Certificate and relevant fire/emergency training
- Able to work independently and as part of a dynamic team, with flexibility for after-hours and weekend events
