
Learn to Swim Teacher - Ararat Fitness Centre
Ararat Fitness Centre is seeking energetic and dedicated Learn to Swim Teachers to join our aquatics team for the upcoming season. Bring your passion for teaching and help participants of all ages develop essential water skills in a safe and supportive environment.
About the Role
As a Learn to Swim Teacher, the focus is on delivering structured swimming lessons in accordance with AustSwim programs. The role involves building water confidence, teaching swimming techniques, and promoting water safety to children and adults alike. The successful candidate will operate under the guidance of the Aquatics Officer and play a key role in the reputation and success of our aquatic program.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging swimming lessons aligned with AustSwim curriculum
- Foster a safe and supportive environment for all program participants
- Monitor and record participant progress, providing constructive feedback to support skill development
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe teaching space at all times
- Assist with scheduling, attendance tracking, and other swim program administrative tasks
- Ensure adherence to all facility, Council, and legislative safety guidelines and policies
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an effective and professional program
About You
- Holds a current AustSwim Learn to Swim Teacher accreditation
- Possesses current First Aid and CPR certification
- Has experience in teaching swimming to children and/or adults (desirable)
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and strong communication skills with diverse learners
- Understands pool safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Shows a focus on teamwork as well as initiative and adaptability in the water and on pool deck
- Holds a valid Working with Children Check or equivalent
