The Ararat Jailhouse Rock Festival is an annual community celebration in Ararat that celebrates the spirit of 1950s and 1960s rock and roll culture with music, cars, dancing and family-friendly activities. 

It’s one of the town’s key festivals, running since the mid-1990s and attracting visitors with its retro theme and lively atmosphere.

The program includes:
• Street cruises & car displays – Classic cars, bikes and trucks on show, with cruises and competitions. 
• Live music & dance events – Bands and DJs playing rock ’n’ roll, with dance floors and themed evenings like the Jailhouse Rock Ball. 
• Family-friendly entertainment – Food vendors, kids’ activities, movie screenings, and entertainment at venues like the Ararat Turf Club. 
• Social gatherings – Events span Friday evening through Sunday, including cruising, performances at local halls and clubs, and casual meetups for car enthusiasts and music lovers.
