Ararat Bowls Club: Official Opening Grampians Lawn Bowls Cultural Centre

Ararat Bowls Club is pleased to present the official opening of the Grampians Lawn Bowls Cultural Centre by legendary bowler John Snell OAM. 

Vintage Bowls Triples will be a part of the day's celebrations. This will comprise: 

  • Two games of two bowl triples
  • Bowlers to use bowls made BEFORE 1990 (sets of eligible bowls available at the club)
  • Single entries only
  • Casual dress
  • $5 entry fee
  • Members please bring a plate for afternoon tea
  • Entry list at club - please contact Irene Gellie 0428 948 707 or Mick Dowd 0407 342 954

Event details: 

  • Tuesday 21 April 2026
  • Timings: 
    • 12:30pm
    • Followed at approx 1pm by Vintage Bowls Triples
    • 3pm: Afternoon tea and a presentation and talk by John Snell OAM

Grampians Lawn Bowls Cultural Centre Purpose: 

  • To house and display historical items relating to lawn bowls. These might be items already available from the Ararat Bowls Club, as well as items from other clubs within the Grampians Playing Area. 
  • To be a hub for the development and delivery of bowling programs for local schools
