Ararat Rural City Council Delivers $12M Capital Works Program
Ararat Rural City Council is pleased to announce the successful delivery of its Capital Works Program for the 2025/26 financial year.
Delivering a pre-EOFY 102% expenditure rate against a $12.43 million infrastructure enhancement budget, Council has maximised its investment to successfully prioritise significant works across several major road, bridge, and infrastructure projects.
Key initiatives include:
- Mount William Road Construction Project
- Buangor Ben Nevis Road Construction Project, including two new bridges.
- An all-new covered sports arena at the Ararat Pony Club.
- Continued upgrades to improve accessibility across our local road network.
- Ongoing maintenance of local footpaths, drainage and kerb and channel.
Progress on two major road projects remains strong. Upgrades to Mount William Road are on track for completion in early spring, while strengthening works on the Buangor Ben Nevis Road Bridge are expected to wrap up by the end of June, subject to weather conditions.
Additionally, stage one road construction has officially commenced at the Warrak end of Buangor Ben Nevis Road.
"This past year, we wanted to make sure every single dollar of our Capital Works Program went right back into the community to upgrade our local infrastructure,” says Ararat Rural City Council Mayor Bob Sanders.
“Our main goal was to deliver safer, smoother roads, and while some of our major road upgrades are still underway, we've made great progress. Looking ahead to the next financial year, we're keeping our focus on continuing to deliver on these important upgrades."
Local infrastructure remains at the forefront of Council’s priorities, with a substantial $15.79 million Capital Works Program a key element of Council’s 2026/27 Budget.
