Council Options To Pay Your Rates, Making It More Convenient
Ararat Rural City Council rates notices have now been issued, and ratepaying residents should have received these in the mail or via email. As part of our commitment to good financial management across the board, we are ensuring there is a range of payment options available to our community.
Residents can pay their rates in one lump sum payment on or by 15 February, or in four instalments throughout the year—starting with the first instalment due on 30 September, followed by 30 November, 28 February, and 31 May. Part payments towards any amount due can be made prior to the due dates.
Payment Methods Include:
• Ararat Rural City Council website (ararat.vic.gov.au)
• Online payments via QR code on your rates notice or eNotices email
• Direct debit (lump sum, instalments, monthly, fortnightly or weekly)
• BPay
• Australia Post (over-the-counter, internet, or phone payments via credit card)
• Centrepay
• In person at Council offices (cheque, money order, EFTPOS, cash, or credit/debit cards)
• Mail (cheque or money order only)
• Phone: (03) 5355 0200
These options reflect Council’s commitment to modernise services and simplify transactions for local households, farmers, businesses, and absentee owners. Residents can still receive their rates notices by post or opt for eNotices via email, helping reduce paper waste.
Cr Bob Sanders, Deputy Mayor, said the portal gives residents more flexibility and control. "We know farming, business and household budgets are being stretched, so we've focused on convenience and flexibility. We have a range of payment methods and installments, and I want to make it clear that we're here to work with the community. Whether it's online, or for those who prefer more traditional ways to pay, those options remain available. We're keeping you in control."
