Learn to Swim Teacher (Part-Time or Casual)

Are you passionate about water safety and helping others build confidence in the pool? We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Learn to Swim Teacher to join our team at the Ararat Fitness Centre.

In this role, you will deliver high-quality swimming lessons in line with AustSwim programs, creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for participants of all ages and abilities. You will play a key role in developing water confidence, teaching essential swimming skills, and promoting lifelong water safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver structured swimming lessons tailored to participant needs
  • Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and active engagement of all participants
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing constructive feedback
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised teaching environment
  • Assist with lesson administration, including attendance and scheduling
  • Uphold all facility policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
  • Support and mentor trainee instructors where required
  • Accurately report incidents, accidents, and customer feedback
  • Work collaboratively with team members to deliver a high-quality aquatic program

About You:

  • Holds a current AustSwim Learn to Swim Teacher accreditation
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Experience teaching swimming lessons (desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of water safety and swimming techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, adaptable, and committed to providing a positive learning experience
  • Holds (or is willing to obtain) a Working with Children Check

This role operates under the Ararat Rural City Council Enterprise Agreement (Band 2 classification) and may require evening and weekend work.
