Ararat Community Gardens Receive Compost Donation from Council
Ararat Rural City Council has donated a suite of high-quality compost to the Ararat Community Garden - Ararat Food Growers Inc located at J-Ward in the old produce gardens.
This high-quality compost is made from green waste we collect in your green waste bins, then processed through advanced rapid composting technology, and has been donated to the garden to enhance the productivity and health of the Community Garden.
Marion Da Costa, Treasurer at Ararat Food Growers Inc. said, “We’re thrilled to get this delivery of compost. We’re a not-for-profit group and run by volunteer community members. We’re passionate about food growing and community food, and this compost is great for the soil. We can expect some excellent food crops.”
The compost is produced as part of a joint project between Ararat Rural City Council and Gaia EnviroTech to make high quality and reasonably priced compost available to the community.
Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Jo Armstrong, said, “Initiatives like the J-Ward Community Garden bring people together and demonstrate how working in partnership can create meaningful change. The donation of compost not only supports those who grow and share food locally but also underscores the importance of using our resources wisely for broader community benefit. We remain committed to empowering local groups and continuing the sustainable journey with practical actions like this.”
