Ararat Library Better Than Ever After Refurbishment Works
Ararat Library is welcoming members and visitors to enjoy a refreshed, modern space following the completion of new exterior signage and repainting, complementing recently installed external lighting.
The upgraded frontage gives the much-loved community hub a fresh look that better reflects the contemporary services available inside, including digital resources, programs, and welcoming spaces for all ages.
The works are the latest stage in a significant year of refurbishment for Ararat Library, which now features a sound-proof study or phone call pod, a new children’s reading corner, upgraded furniture, and improved spaces for quiet study and group activities. These improvements support a growing range of programs and services, from early years literacy and school holiday activities to book clubs and technology support sessions.
Ararat Rural City Council Chief Executive Officer, Dr Tim Harrison, said the upgrades respond to how local people use the library today. “Ararat Library is more than shelves and books. It is a welcoming place to study, work, connect, and learn, and these improvements make that experience even better for everyone who walks through the door,” Dr Harrison said.
Mayor Cr Bob Sanders said the library continues to play an important role in community life. “When you stand outside the library now, with the new signage, paintwork, and lighting, it sends a clear message that this is a valued community space that is here for the long haul,” Cr Sanders said. “If you have not been in for a while, now is the perfect time to pop in, have a look around, and sign up as a member.”
Membership at Ararat Library is free, giving residents access to physical and digital collections, including books, audiobooks, magazines, and online resources. Community members can visit the library during opening hours to join, or find more information on Council’s website.
