Ararat Tennis Club Brightening the Future for More Players

Ararat Rural City Council has secured $560,000 in grant funding from the State Government to deliver substantial upgrades to the Ararat Tennis Club.

The funding will allow the Ararat Tennis Club to install upgraded sports lighting as well as
accessibility upgrades including accessible pathways and lighting, improved signage, fence upgrades, on-site disabled parking, and safety lighting.

These upgrades will make it safer and easier for everyone in the community, including players and visitors, to enjoy evening tennis matches.

The project also aims to enable increased participation in community sports, allowing for greater programming opportunities, as well as improving accessibility and community safety.

The project is one of 41 new projects to be supported by the latest round of the State Government’s Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund, which aims to deliver new and upgraded community sports infrastructure.

The Fund has previously supported 67 infrastructure projects and 8 participation initiatives as part of the more than $2.4 billion invested by the State Government in community sport infrastructure.

“We are delighted that the Ararat Tennis club has received this funding from the State Government for what is such an important project for our community,” said Ararat Rural City Council Deputy Mayor, Cr Bob Sanders.

“These upgrades will allow current club members to enjoy playing tennis more often and into the evening, as well as boost participation levels across the whole community.”
