Community Gathers to Celebrate New Ararat Library Space
Ararat Rural City community members gathered at the Ararat Library on Tuesday to celebrate the official opening of the library’s new interior refurbishment.
Attendees enjoyed morning tea whilst having the opportunity to explore the new facilities and learn about the library’s range of services and programs.
The library underwent a $200,000 interior upgrade earlier in the year, including the installation of all-new flooring and mobile shelving in the adult fiction and non-fiction areas to enable these shelves to be moved for flexible use of the space for the library’s programs.
A new customer service desk, improved library signage, new soft furniture for reading and quiet study, and two new public computers to meet technological demands were also included in the upgrades.
The project was proudly funded by Council's Capital Works Program, and reflects community feedback received mid-last year, and address the community's changing needs.
Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Bob Sanders emphasised the positive impact that the new improvements would have on the community, stating “We’ve focused on creating a more accessible, modern, and versatile environment for everyone.”
“These improvements mean our library can continue to evolve with our community's needs, empowering further learning, fostering creativity, and ensuring every resident feels welcome and supported.”
