Community Grants Open To Support Local Projects
Ararat Rural City Council is inviting local community groups and organisations to apply for the next round of Community Grants, with applications already open from Monday 14 September through to Sunday 11 October 2026.
The Community Grants Program provides practical support for projects that strengthen local connections, improve facilities and equipment, encourage participation, and deliver activities that benefit people across Ararat Rural City.
The latest round of grants saw Council award more than $31,000 across ten local projects that included community activities, equipment purchases like a specialist quilting machine and catering equipment, facility improvements like motorbike track upgrades and digital scoring systems, and programs led by local groups and volunteers.
Ararat Rural City Council Chief Executive Officer Dr Tim Harrison said the grants program was designed to help community groups turn good ideas into achievable projects. “Community groups are often the people who see an opportunity, identify a local need, and get on with making a difference,” Dr Harrison said.
“These grants provide straightforward, practical support to help volunteers and organisations deliver projects that bring people together, improve local facilities, or create new opportunities for the community.
“We encourage groups to have a look at the guidelines, talk through their ideas, and submit an application. The process is quick and easy to complete, and Council staff are available to assist if needed.”
Community groups, not-for-profit organisations, and eligible local organisations are encouraged to consider projects that provide a clear benefit to the Ararat Rural City community.
Applications close on Sunday 11 October 2026.
