Council Continues Road And Drainage Upgrades Across Ararat
Ararat Rural City Council is continuing a program of road, footpath and drainage improvements across the city, with works progressing on Alexandra Avenue, Coral and McNeill streets, and Albert Street.
Works on Alexandra Avenue are continuing as part of the Gravel to Seal project, with crews undertaking kerb, road and footpath construction. Footpaths are also being constructed in McNeill Street.
Preparation works are also underway in Coral and McNeill streets ahead of upcoming kerb construction.
Meanwhile, an upgrade to drainage infrastructure in Albert Street will commence today. The works will improve local drainage, improve the flood resilience of nearby properties, and support the long-term condition of the road network.
Ararat Rural City Council Chief Executive Officer Dr Tim Harrison said the projects formed part of Council's ongoing investment in safe, well-maintained infrastructure for the community.
“Roads, kerbs, footpaths and drainage are fundamental elements of our local infrastructure, and these works will deliver practical improvements for residents, businesses and road users,” Dr Harrison said.
“We appreciate the patience of the community while construction is underway. Council will continue to work with contractors to minimise disruption wherever possible and keep people informed as the projects progress.”
Residents and motorists are encouraged to follow all traffic management directions in work areas and allow extra time when travelling through affected streets.
