Council Urges Care After Damage to Mt William Road During Upgrade Works
Ararat Rural City Council is calling on road users to take greater care following extensive damage to Mt William Road, which is currently undergoing important upgrade works.
Heavy vehicles, along with inappropriate road usage by the public, are undermining Council’s efforts to deliver safer, more reliable infrastructure for the community. Recent inspections have revealed significant wear and tear, which threatens both the progress and quality of maintenance projects underway.
Council urges all local residents, transport operators, and visitors to reconsider their driving choices when using Mt William Road, particularly during the upgrade period.
“It’s disappointing to see our improvement works compromised by unnecessary damage,” said Ararat Rural City Council CEO, Dr Tim Harrison. “We all have a stake in the future of our local roads, and a shared responsibility to protect public assets. By taking a little extra care now, everyone helps create a safer, stronger network that benefits our entire region.”
Council understands the inconvenience posed by roadworks, and appreciates the community’s ongoing patience and cooperation.
Residents are reminded to follow posted signage and avoid taking heavy equipment onto Mt William Road unless absolutely necessary, ensuring quality infrastructure for generations to come.
