Driver feedback sought on Delacombe Way
Drivers who use Delacombe Way between Willaura-Wickcliffe Road and Mortlake-Ararat Road are being asked to provide feedback on how, when, and why they use the road, as Ararat Rural City Council seeks data to support road improvement funding.
Council wants to make this section of Delacombe Way in Willaura not only safer for drivers, but also stronger and more sustainable for the hundreds of heavy transport vehicles that use the road each day to move freight like grain, stock and general freight.
Mayor Councillor Bob Sanders said the seven-kilometre stretch of Delacombe Way needed to be safer and wider to make it a more efficient and effective transport route, which was essential for the region’s primary industries.
“Feedback from the community will help Council shape future funding applications to build sustainable road infrastructure to support the transport industry,” said Cr Sanders. “Data collected from the public will also help Council to identify broader road safety issues to include in the Ararat Rural City Council Road Safety Action Plan.
“While we’re engaging with stakeholders such as local trucking companies, farmers and regional grain handling facilities, it's equally important to hear from residents and commuters who use the road daily or occasionally. I encourage everyone to go online and share their experiences.”
The public is invited to provide feedback at engageararat.vic.gov.au before 5pm Friday, 27 March.
