Facility upgrades underway in Mininera

Construction is underway on a new public toilet block at Mininera Recreation Reserve by Ararat Rural City Council (ARCC), as part of a suite of improvements to the 70-plus year-old facility.

Council recently installed a new septic system at the reserve to meet current environmental and public health standards and has also fitted out the clubrooms with new carpets and blinds.

These improvements at Mininera were fully funded by council, said Mayor Cr Bob Sanders.

“Council worked closely with the Mininera Recreation Reserve Committee to get these works underway and we thank them for their input,” he said. “It’s really important to keep sport and recreation facilities in our smaller towns maintained to support our rural communities.”

Cr Sanders commented that other major infrastructure works currently being delivered by council included the arena cover at the Ararat Pony Club supported by a $1.49M Federal Government grant from the Play Our Way program.

“The new arena cover has now been built; our contractors just need to complete the plumbing, power upgrades, lighting and fencing works and the facility can be handed back to the local club members and visiting competitors to enjoy.”

Works on the new Ararat Off Leash Dog Park are expected to ramp up within the next fortnight, with plumbing and irrigation scheduled ahead of equipment installation. This project is made possible by a
$100,000 grant through the State Government’s New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program.

And, over at the Ararat Tennis Club, the $700,000 redevelopment is now underway, with contractors working on package of works that will include 350 LUX lighting to lift the standard of night competitions and safer, more accessible pathways.
