Have Your Say: Ararat Rural City Sport and Active Recreation Strategy

Ararat Rural City residents are encouraged to provide their feedback via an online survey to assist Council in preparing a new strategy, aimed at ensuring we can effectively support and promote a physically active and healthy community,

Council’s Sport and Active Recreation Strategy seeks to improve sports and active recreation facilities, programs and services across the municipality over the next ten years.

The survey has been prepared in collaboration with sport, recreation and community planning consultancy, Communityvibe. Through this survey, Council would like to understand how we can encourage more people to be more active and how can we activate and improve our sport and active recreation facilities.

The Ararat Sport and Active Recreation Strategy Consultation Survey is open on Engage Ararat (via an external link to Survey Monkey) until 5pm on Monday 30 June 2025

Several drop-in sessions will also be held on following dates:

  • Tuesday 24 June: 9am - 11am, Grampians Store Pomonal
  • Saturday 28 June: 10.30am - 12.30pm, Lake Bolac Supermarket
  • Saturday 28 June: 1.30pm - 3.30pm, Alexandra Oval Community Centre

Council will also be reaching out to sporting clubs directly so that members can provide feedback via their club. Sports club members are also encouraged to share their thoughts via the online survey. This initiative is supported by the Victorian Government.

“The community’s feedback on this initiative is essential. It will help us to ensure that we capture the right information so we can keep on improving our sporting and recreation facilities,“ says Ararat Rural City Council CEO, Dr Tim Harrison.

“Engaging with our local sporting clubs and organisations will be a crucial step in this process, as their valuable input will help guide us to develop a strategy that delivers the best outcomes for our community.”
