Inventi Ensemble Brings A Musical Journey To Ararat Gallery TAMA

Ararat Rural City Council is pleased to welcome Inventi Ensemble to Ararat Gallery TAMA for the next instalment of the popular Music in the Gallery series.

Inventi Ensemble will present 1001 Nights, a one-hour performance inspired by the ancient collection of Middle Eastern folk tales also known as One Thousand and One Nights. At the heart of the stories is Scheherazade, who captivates King Shahryar by telling a new tale each night, weaving together stories of adventure, romance, humour, courage, faraway places, and mythical creatures.

The program draws on the rich imagination and storytelling tradition of 1001 Nights, bringing together music that evokes its shifting moods and worlds. Audiences will be taken on a journey through music inspired by the East, including works that capture the mystery, colour, drama, and beauty associated with the enduring tales.

The afternoon concert will be held in the Gallery, offering audiences the opportunity to experience live classical music in an intimate setting surrounded by the Gallery’s collection and current exhibitions.

Ararat Rural City Council Chief Executive Officer Dr Tim Harrison said Council’s public venues played an important role in expanding the range of experiences available to local residents. “Our public venues are committed to bringing new experiences to our residents, whether that is live music, theatre, visual arts, learning opportunities, or community events,” Dr Harrison said.

“Music in the Gallery offers something distinct. It brings high-quality performance into a relaxed and accessible setting, while also giving people another reason to spend time in one of our important cultural spaces.”

“Inventi Ensemble has developed a thoughtful program that will appeal to regular classical music audiences and people who are simply looking to enjoy something different on a Sunday afternoon.”

Inventi Ensemble is led by artistic directors Ben Opie and Melissa Doecke, and brings together accomplished Australian musicians to present chamber music in engaging and inventive ways. Their 1001 Nights program explores stories and musical traditions associated with the ancient collection of tales, creating a performance that is both evocative and accessible.

The Music in the Gallery performance will be held at Ararat Gallery TAMA. The pop-up bar in the Gallery foyer will open from 3.30pm, the house will open at 3.45pm, and the performance will run from 4.00pm to 5.00pm, with no interval. Tickets are $79 full price and $66 concession.
