Local and Fed Uni Students Tour Ararat’s Early Years Services

Last week Ararat Rural City Council welcomed six Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) students from Federation University Australia and are-able (disability employment services, training, education and recruitment) on a tour of Ararat Early Years services.

Beginning with morning tea at Ararat Visitor Information Centre, the students were bussed to seven different Sessional and Long Day Care Kindergarten services around the township: Jack and Jill Kindergarten, Ararat North Kindercare, Ararat Village Early Learning Centre, Carey Street Kindergarten, Ararat Childcare and Kinder Retreat, St Andrews Kindergarten, and Ararat Early Learning Centre.

Students also had the opportunity to see inside Ararat’s iconic Town Hall, as well as spend some time at Ararat Gallery TAMA. 

Lunch was served in the Captain’s Room of the Ararat RSL, after which students embarked on a walking tour of the Barkly Street Precinct.

The tour was proudly organised and funded by Ararat Rural City Council. 

“The Bus Tour initiative was developed to showcase the Early Childhood Education and Care career opportunities that are available within our municipality,” explains Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Jo Armstrong. 

“Through this initiative, we’ve been able to connect students with local Early Childhood Education and Care providers, creating placement and employment opportunities that will strengthen our workforce and ensure the continuation of quality early childhood education in Ararat Rural City.”
