Mount William Road Upgrade Project Progresses
Ararat Rural City Council is pleased to share that progress of the Mount William Road upgrade is continuing, a project that is an important investment that will benefit local residents, farmers, and visitors to the region.
Works are now continuing on schedule, with teams focused on ensuring a safer and smoother drive for the community.
The $6.25 million project, jointly funded by the Federal Government’s Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program and Council, covers the reconstruction of six kilometres of Mount William Road.
Efforts are currently focused on upgrading and stabilising road base layers, improving drainage, resurfacing and sealing. These upgrades will enhance road safety and efficiency for heavy agricultural traffic and everyday commuters, directly supporting Ararat Rural City’s economic and rural life.
Dr Tim Harrison, Chief Executive Officer of Ararat Rural City Council, said, “Seeing this important project move ahead is critical, and rewarding for everyone involved. We know how much the upgrade matters to people using Mount William Road. We’re focused on delivering a quality job, as promised to our local community. Thanks to everyone for working with us as the project continues to take shape.”
Council thanks the community for their patience and cooperation during the project's earlier challenges and encourages motorists to stay alert to construction activity and traffic changes.
