Ararat Rural City Council Launches Free Pad and Tampon Dispenser at Library Accessible Bathrooms

Ararat Rural City Council is pleased to announce the installation of a free sanitary product vending machine in the Ararat Library accessible bathrooms, available for use now.

Located in a high-traffic facility frequented by both residents and visitors, this new dispenser offers complimentary pads and tampons to ensure that everyone in our community has access to essential period products.

The initiative supports Council’s ongoing work to improve community wellbeing and convenience. In addition, this vending machine and its available products help residents in need to manage period poverty, removing barriers to participation in work, school, sport, and daily life.

The dispenser provides a discreet, easy way to access products without cost, and aligns with similar programs rolled out across Victoria.

Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Jo Armstrong, expressed Council’s commitment to practical solutions, “We’re proud to join the statewide program delivering free pads and tampons. We know that access to basic necessities like these can make an immediate difference in people’s lives.”

“With the installation of this vending machine, we are supporting dignity for everyone who uses our public spaces.”
