Outdoor Pool Season Dates Announced for 2026

Ararat Rural City Council is pleased to announce the opening dates for its outdoor pools ahead of the 2026 summer season.

Early morning lap swimming at the Ararat Outdoor Pool will commence on Monday 12 October 2026, giving regular swimmers an early opportunity to return to the water ahead of the broader summer season.

The Lake Bolac Outdoor Pool is scheduled to open from Monday 30 November 2026, and the Willaura Outdoor Pool from Wednesday 2 December 2026. Both openings are weather dependent.

Ararat Rural City Council Chief Executive Officer Dr Tim Harrison said the return of the outdoor pool season was an important part of the summer calendar for residents across the municipality. “Outdoor pools provide a straightforward and affordable way for people to keep active, cool down, and spend time with family and friends over summer,” Dr Harrison said.

“Starting early morning lap swimming in October gives local swimmers the chance to establish their routine before the school holiday period begins.

“We are also pleased to see Lake Bolac and Willaura pools back in the schedule. These facilities are well used by their communities and provide a great local option for recreation throughout the warmer months.”

The Ararat Outdoor Pool’s previous summer operating arrangements, with early morning lap swimming available on weekday mornings before the pool opens for general public use later in the season.
