Switch Off And Connect Through Art At Ararat Gallery TAMA

Ararat Rural City Council is inviting people to put their phones away, meet someone new, and spend an afternoon with art at Ararat Gallery TAMA’s Analog Art Club.

Led by Visual Arts Coordinator Katy Mitchell, each session offers a chance to explore the gallery’s current exhibitions through guided slow looking. Participants may be invited to discuss what they notice or try observational drawing. No art experience is needed, and materials are provided.

Mayor Cr Bob Sanders said the sessions offered a simple way for people to make time for art and each other. “You don’t have to know anything about art to enjoy an afternoon at the gallery,” Cr Sanders said. “Put the phone away, take a closer look, share what catches your eye, and hear what someone else sees. It is a good chance to slow down, have a conversation, and enjoy what we have here in Ararat.”

Analog Art Club is a joint initiative of the Public Galleries Association of Victoria and ArtsHub, hosted by galleries across the state. The phone-free sessions are open to people aged 14 and over. Participants are asked to keep their phones on silent in a bag or pocket.

The remaining 2026 sessions at Ararat Gallery TAMA will be held on Saturday 10 October and Saturday 14 November, from 2pm to 3.30pm. Tickets are $5 each, and bookings are appreciated to help plan seating.

Event details and tickets are available through the Ararat Gallery TAMA website araratgallerytama.com.au
