WAMA Art Prize closes on 19 Nov

It’s your last chance to see the WAMA Art Prize Collection! Closing this Sunday, the exhibition holds 50 works on display from Australian artists in Ararat Gallery TAMA.

The WAMA Art Prize is a biennial national award for excellence in art inspired by nature created with or on paper, founded by Australia’s National Centre for Environmental Art located between Halls Gap and Pomonal.

Ararat Gallery TAMA Visual Arts Coordinator Katy Mitchell said, “Ararat Gallery TAMA’s program shares great Australian stories with the community, bringing the best textile and fibre collections to the Ararat community,” Ms Mitchell said.

‘The breadth and diversity of nature-inspired art and remarkable environments on display from the exhibition has been a popular companion to our textile exhibitions.

‘Through a meaningful partnership with WAMA, the Gallery continues to increase engagement with local audiences and abroad.

‘There’s been a lot of excitement surrounding the Art Prize exhibition - we're intrigued to hear which work will win the People's Choice Award!' Included within the exhibition is a People’s Choice Award, available for public vote until the exhibition closes.

Dr. Jacky Healy, Chair of WAMA’s Arts Advisory Council says, “The People’s Choice Award is a wonderful opportunity for the visitors to the exhibition to vote for works that they directly connect with. It is a very special award.”

Voting for the People's Choice Award closes 19 November. You can scan the QR code in the exhibition, or online via https://wama.net.au/wama-art-prize/2023-finalists/. Ararat Gallery TAMA is open daily, 10am - 4pm.
