Willaura

About Willaura

This friendly little township is located 34 kilometres south of Ararat on the eastern slopes of the Grampians National Park. It is supported by the local farming industry, which is mainly involved in wool, fat lambs and cropping.

Willaura has a mixture of local businesses, including farm supplies, opportunity shop, supermarket (stocking local and regional wine), newsagent/post office, Bendigo Community Bank, bakery, chemist and a candle shop.

It also offers a Recreation Reserve with room to camp, kick a footy, walk the dog, and fly a kite. An outdoor pool (Dec-March), tennis courts, playground, shady trees and free BBQs make this reserve a haven in all seasons.

A one kilometre walking track nearby takes visitors around one of the district’s intriguing lignum swamps, and information panels along the way give an insight into the town’s history and unique environmental features.

The Railway Historical Precinct also provides a fascinating glimpse into Willaura’s past along with the Willaura Modern gallery.
